You ask a good question and I think the answer lies in a thorough understanding of the scientific method. Too often, education teaches us the science, without addressing the philosophy of the scientific method. Education teaches us politics, without looking at political philosophy. This is problematic for it fails to show how we arrive at the 'truths' in each respected discipline.

Kuhn made is explicitly clear that he was not undermining the rationality of science in his work. As Samir Okasha puts it: 'for we can read Kuhn instead as rejecting a certain concept of rationality'. Kuhn redefined rationality in science from the old positivist description. Scientific change is not irrational, in fact it is required. Relying upon ubiquitous paradigms from previous generations to 'get stuff done' is again not irrational, as eventually anomalies and crises' will arise if current paradigms are not robust. The notion of change and turning back on what you once thought was the case is often seen as a negative stain on ones character - addressing the falsehood in this narrative seems to be the first thing we need to tackle.
